Normally the hormones produced by the female body will protect a woman from hair loss. However at certain times a woman may be susceptible when her hormonal pattern changes. Many women experience some thinning after the menopause, for others the loss is a temporary one, such as after pregnancy or when coming off the contraceptive pill.
Hair loss may be experienced by regularly wearing hair in a very tight style which puts tension on the hair roots. By changing the style the problem will get no worse and may even improve.
A more generalised illness such as diabetes, low levels of thyroxin, severe fever, crash dieting, a bad emotional shock or the treatment for cancer can all lead to hair loss. It may also be the first symptom of polycystic ovaries, a common hormonal condition that can affect fertility. In each case it is the cause rather than the hair loss which needs first attention. Often this treatment means that there is no need for specific hair loss remedies.
Normally the hair grows in a cycle which consists of a growth phase which can last for several years, then there is a rest phase and finally the hair falls out. It is when this cycle is interrupted that problems occur.
I t used to be thought that the causes of hair loss in both male and female are basically the same, except that the pattern of hair loss in women is more diffuse over the whole scalp than is usual in men. More recently experts are coming to the conclusion that in women loss is more likely to be due to a number of different factors. Many types of enzymes as well as hormone receptors and blockers may be the cause of female hair loss. This is why male pattern baldness tends to be age related, but hair loss in women can occur at any time.
Sometimes people loose hair in patches. This is known as alopecia areata and is the result of a problem with the body's autoimmune system which causes hair follicles to be attacked by the white blood cells. In most cases it is a mild condition that rights itself after about a year or so. Only rarely does it cause total and irrevocable hair loss.
Women have the advantage over men in that loss is usually less than in male pattern baldness. Also they have a greater variety of hair styles to choose from in order to make the best of their remaining hair. Finally, in many cases, whatever the cause of female hair loss it is usually a temporary condition and will eventually be overcome.

How can I look fashionable in hair loss headwear?
Like it or not anyone wearing a hat today is making a fashion statement, simply because not many people wear them these days on a daily basis, apart from the ubiquitous baseball cap.
Many women feel uncomfortable wearing a hat, with the most common reason seemingly that hats "just don't suit them and they don't look right in them".
Perhaps it is just because we don't wear them very often and we just don't know what suits us. So how do women get to a point where they feel comfortable in hats, let alone confident enough to create their own distinctive hat wearing style? And what happens if wearing a hat suddenly becomes a central issue in your life?
For women experiencing hair loss either because of chemotherapy side effects, Alopecia areata or hair thinning, this is exactly what happens and it becomes an additional challenge they face. To cope with this impact of a prolonged period of hair loss, it becomes essential that they feel able to 'manage' their new image and wearing hats or other types of headwear is part of this strategy.
Understanding your face shape is the first step. The shape of your face is a key factor in selecting the best headwear for you. A hat creates a sense of presence and is a way to reflect your personal style. And the way it works with hairstyles is the way it works with hats. Not all hat styles will flatter you, but rest assured there is a style out there that will suit you. The tricky bit is finding it!
FACE SHAPES
Square Face
Whatever style you choose, wear your hat at a slight slant or tilt; this will give a more flattering, asymmetrical look to your face.
Round Face
Do not select hat styles that are narrower than the width of your face i.e. Fez or flower pot shapes. Wider shapes with brims will suit you better. With a round face your hats should only be worn at a slight angle.
Narrow/Long Face
Avoid tall hats, instead try hats with brims (they don't have to be big) just enough to add width around the head. Trims should also add width around the crown section of the hat.
Heart-shaped Face
If you have wide cheekbones or a heart shaped face, you'll look in good in any style, even those head-hugging styles that can be so hard to wear. Wear them straight across the forehead or hairline.
Wide Face
Hats worn off the face work well, tilted towards the back of the head, (think Jackie Onassis and you've captured the style). Hat styles that are naturally worn high on the forehead will always suit you.
Larger Nose
If your nose isn't your favourite feature, wear your hats so that they sit forward on the head (buy styles that give deeper coverage at the nape of the neck), preferably with a brim or peak to draw attention away from it.
N.B Remember these are only guidelines, not hard and fast rules. There are always ways of altering a hat to suit. Trims in particular can change the shape/width of a hat drastically. Colour and fabric texture (print or stripe) also play an important role in 'disguising' the overall shape of the hat.
Trailing round department stores trying on shapes is one option, although if you really don't know what suits you, this can be exhaustive and more than a little disheartening. Another alternative is to ask your friends and family to root out every hat they've ever bought. Then in front of a full-length mirror try them all on, taking a little time to assess each one properly.
The reason for the full-length mirror is that it gives a sense of proportion from hem to waistline and from waistline to neckline. It also allows you to see the hat width or lack of width on your upper body. If you can't find a full-length mirror, find the biggest mirror you can and preferably a hand held mirror as well, so that you can see the back of your head comfortably. (Look into the hand held mirror with your back to the larger mirror and turn your head and the mirror until you can see the back of your head.)
Now you've got the best chance of assessing how you look from all sides, so alter how you're wearing the hats whilst they are on your head. Try them from side to side, on a slant or with a front to back tilt. If a friend is on hand, ask them to look in the mirror with you, rather than at you, before they comment. Because the mirror flattens 'the picture' and you see yourself in two dimensions, it is easier for us to take in the 'full effect', rather than looking directly at the person. If you do that you will end up looking where you always do, at the person's face and not studying the upper body.
Don't give up...
If you are unsuccessful in finding the perfect style from your hoard, take a different view. Try not to view the hat as a single component, but think about it in two parts - the crown and the brim. Compile a picture of all the 'best bits' of the hat, for example, taking the crown from one with the brim of another may 'make' your perfect hat. Or perhaps a side trim that works better than a material drape all the way round the hat.
Once you have a firm idea of what works, start your search in retail outlets and on the web. Don't get waylaid or distracted; you now know what suits you, because you have done your groundwork. It may take a little longer but once you've found 'your style', you can duplicate it, triplicate it and buy it in as many colours to suit your wardrobe. Now you're buying with confidence. Does it look more stylish and fashionable than a simple head-scarf? Without a shadow of a doubt - it will!
Hats that flatter
The key message from the table above is that brims and peaks are easier to wear, and more flattering to more face shapes. When brims are mentioned most women think Ascot 'super saucers', but this needn't be the case. There are styles out there that incorporate small soft brims that mean you don't have to worry about knocking them when you're out in the supermarket or walking around.
If you look better in hats that have detail on one side because it balances your face shape, then don't be afraid to experiment. Look at what accessories you could comfortably wear up there. You may be reading this and thinking "I could never do that".
Well maybe not in the past, but as a woman experiencing significant hair loss you now find yourself with a whole new image to 'manage' and this requires a new approach. Not a theatrical 'make-over', or even close to it, but simply an open-minded approach to review your style potential and experiment with jewellery, accessories and make-up. It may take a little time and a little practise but the benefits to your self-esteem and self-assurance will be immeasurable.

Guide to Female Hair Loss
Female hair loss occurs in more than one pattern. The most common type of hair loss seen in women is androgenetic alopecia, also known as female pattern alopecia. Some of the most common of these causes are trichotillomania , telogen effluvium , scarring alopecia and alopecia areata.only about 20 per cent of women between 18 and 45 have moderate regrowth using the drug, while another 40 per cent experience minimal regrowth. Triangular alopecia- loss of hair in the temporal areas that sometimes begins in childhood. Hair loss may be complete, or a few fine, thin-diameter hairs may remain. The cause of triangular alopecia is not known, but the condition can be treated medically or surgically. A woman also usually feels she must have a full head of hair to meet societal expectations.
Some causes of temporary hair loss-such as hormonal changes during pregnancy-will resolve spontaneously. Thinning hair is acceptable only when a woman is very old. A woman does not generally expect to lose hair even if there is a history of hair loss in male or female relatives. In the United States, at least, there has been a general belief that thinning hair and baldness is a "male thing. Medical treatments for hair loss are largely directed at male androgenetic alopecia. Women's pattern of hair loss is different to the typical receding hairline and crown loss in men. Photo chemotherapy is used for psoriasis. It has helped about half those treated, but requires special equipment and treatment two to three times a week.
Corticoid steroids anti-inflammatory drugs that help to suppress the immune system. Nonsurgical hair loss treatment options for more information). A surgical treatment for female androgenetic alopecia may occasionally be combined with minoxidil. Sulfasalazin sulfa drug is used to treat autoimmune disorders. Minoxidil 5%( brand name of Rogaine) promotes hair growth in several conditions in which the hair follicles are small and not growing to their full potential. It needs to be used on a daily basis. Topical sensitizers: These, when applied to the scalp, cause an allergic reaction that leads to itching and scaling, but also stimulate the hair follicles and can cause hair growth. Again, results are only seen after long-term use, usually three to twelve months.

Reverse Hair Loss - What you can do
Hair loss usually develops gradually and may be patchy or diffuse (all over) and also called is Baldness. Hair loss is so common that most of the time it is considered a normal variation and not a disease. Baldnessinvolves the state of lacking hair where it often grows, especially on the head. Both men and women tend to lose hair thickness and amount as they age. Inherited or "pattern baldness" affects many more men than women. About 25% of men begin to bald by the time they are 30 years old, and about two-thirds are either bald or have a balding pattern by age 60. Baldness typically refers to excessive hair loss from your scalp and can be the result of heredity, certain medications or an underlying medical condition.
Some women also develop a particular pattern of hair loss due to genetics, age, and male hormones that tend to increase in women after menopause. Some medicines can cause hair loss. Finally, hair loss may occur as part of an underlying disease, such as lupus or diabetes. Medicines that can cause hair loss include blood thinners (also called anticoagulants), medicines used for gout, medicines used in chemotherapy to treat cancer. Women may develop female-pattern baldness. In this form of hair loss, the hair can become thin over the entire scalp.Hair transplants performed by a physician is a surgical approach to transferring growing hair from one part of the head to another. Poor eating can contribute to hair loss. Eating a balanced, healthy diet is important for a lot of reasons, and it really benefits your hair.
Antiandrogens block DHT already produced and present in the blood stream from binding with hair follicles. Wear a hat. Vitamin E has a wide range of positive effects in cancer particularly vitamin E succinate. Don't rub your hair too vigorously with a towel, either. Many hair experts suggest you consider putting away the blow-dryer and air drying your hair instead. Treatment of alopecia areata may require topical or injectable steroids or ultraviolet light.Hair transplants and scalp reduction surgery are available to treat androgenetic alopecia. Castor oil treatments were sometimes alternated with slathering the scalp with aloe vera juice, olive oil, equal amounts of rosemary tea and olive oil, onion juice, or onion juice mixed with honey.

Avoiding Hair Loss
One of the major worries for people over the ages has been the loss of hair as hair is closely associated with the beauty of an individual. People resort to all kinds of things to hide their not so glamorous scalp including buying wigs and exotic potions! In order to solve this problem effectively we first need to know about what exactly causes hair loss and then move on to find remedies to prevent it. Studies have shown that the most common reasons for hair loss of men come from hormone related or from genetic factors.
The major culprit for hair loss in men seems to be the hormone called DHT (dihydrotestostrone). As the level of this hormone increases in the body, the hair loss pattern also catapults high up resulting in the thinning of hair leading to eventual permanent damage of the hair follicles. This develops the dreaded syndrome of balding and robs an otherwise positive man of his confidence. In women too, this testosterone derivate hormone DHT plays havoc and leads to hair loss even though the results might not be as extreme as the ones seen in men. In the case of women, two more factors accentuate hair loss. The first one is triggered off by a traumatic situation in her life, disturbing the normal hair growth pattern and is called Telogen Effluvium. There is a general thinning of hair in this case. Another major condition which seems to be promoting hair loss in women is Alopecia Areata. In this rare condition, there is loss of hair in patches not only from the scalp but also from various other body parts. Thankfully, there is a wide variety of hair loss remedies available to prevent hair loss.
One of the oldest remedies for hair loss is massaging of the scalp. It has been tried, tested and proved to stimulate hair follicles when done for a few minutes on a regular basis. Oiling the scalp is not such a bad idea either! Coconut, olive and jojoba oils have been found to have hair nourishing and growth promoting properties. Also, keeping the head cool and periodic washing with cold or lukewarm water is recommended. The significance of good nutrition can never be overlooked as the quality of hair depends heavily on our diet. The presence of a balanced diet with ample amount of minerals, fats and proteins is the key to lustrous and glamorous hair. Raw Palmetto extract also helps to avoid the problem of hair loss by lowering the DHT levels in the body and prevents hair loss.
Another potion that has proved to be beneficial to hair is Aloe Vera extract. It reduces the pH level and preserves our hair. It is recommended to apply Aloe Vera on the scalp regularly to gain the desired effect. One of the latest remedies found is Polysorbate-80 it also believed to decrease the level of DHT preventing hair loss. As you can see, it is important to keep the body clean from inside as well as outside in order to prevent hair loss. To maintain splendid hair, regular detoxification activities should be carried out. All activities and exercises also help to maintain hair in good condition as they improve the distribution of oxygen in the body and blood circulation. And remember that it is much easier to maintain your hair in good condition rather than restoring it after being lost.

Hair Loss - What causes hair loss in men and women
Baldness or hair loss is typically something only adults need to worry about. But in a few cases, teens lose their hair, too - and it may be a sign that something's going on. Hair loss during adolescence can mean a person's sick or maybe just not eating right. Who says that only adults need to worry about hair loss? At present, even teens and young adults are already being affected by hair loss. Hair loss can serve as a warning sign especially for the young ones because it may indicate malnutrition and other diseases. So if you're losing an abnormal amount of hair every day, you ought to visit a doctor so that the root cause is identified. This article trys to answer the question "what causes hair loss?" and looks at possible ways to help tackle this common condition.
For chemotherapy patients or those that take certain medications because of their illness, hair loss may be one of its effects. Not only that, frequent hair styling can also cause hair loss. So whatever the reason is, you have to identify it right away so that the proper treatment can be determined.
Appearance matters a lot especially in today's times. For young adults and teens, act on your hair loss problem immediately because once the problem is corrected, your hair will again grow normally. For the older adults, it may take some time before you can re-grow your hair or the worst is that your hair may never grow again.
Aside from causes of hair loss already mentioned above, there are still other known causes. One is alopecia areata and it affects about 1.7% of the entire population. It is considered as one of the autoimmune diseases and it is characterized by round small bald patches on your scalp. After some time, the condition progresses and you end up with full hair loss. This condition starts during childhood. If you're quite lucky, you can expect your hair to grow back between six months to two years.
Trichotillomania can also cause hair loss and this is due to the constant pulling of the hair. This condition is a psychological disorder so the person should seek immediate medical attention. Oftentimes, therapy is needed until such time that the individual stops pulling his or her hair.
Poor nutrition is able to contribute to further hair loss. By eating unhealthy choices of food, your body will not get the necessary nutrients it needs to make your hair and scalp healthy. People who have bulimia and anorexia are prone to hair loss because hair growth is not sustained. You don't have to eat plenty of foods all at once but just eat the healthy ones and in the right amounts as well.
Another is male pattern baldness. This is genetically inherited and the effects are seen more visibly among men. The condition is also called androgenetic alopecia. Several factors cause this condition like genetics, androgen, and hormones.
Can improper care of my hair cause hair loss?
Yes. If you wear pigtails or cornrows or use tight hair rollers, the pull on your hair can cause a type of hair loss called traction alopecia (say: al-oh-pee-sha). If the pulling is stopped before scarring of the scalp develops, your hair will grow back normally. However, scarring can cause permanent hair loss. Hot oil hair treatments or chemicals used in permanents (also called "perms") may cause inflammation (swelling) of the hair follicle, which can result in scarring and hair loss.
Mechanical damage
Damage to the hair can be self inflicted either by intentional or unintentional means. Some people going through stress continuously pull at their hair until it comes out. Styling hair by bleaching, braiding and straightening can also cause damage and results in hair being lost.
Trichotillomania or hair pulling - Some children and less often adults play with their hair by pulling on it or twisting it. This can be part of a behavioral problem or a bad habit that is often done unconsciously. If the behavior is not stopped permanent hair loss can result from the constant stress on the hair. Its best to seek the help of a mental health professional to solve this problem.
As it is not always possible to assess the cause for rapid or excessive hair loss it is always worth seeking medical advice to diagnose the cause for your hair loss.

Hair Extensions
Hair is an important aspect of a person's appearance. A hair cut or hair style defines a person's personality, whether it being funky or conservative. Hair extensions are a great way changing someone's look for a short period of time; it has also become very popular among many celebrities.
Hair extensions came a long way, there are presently many different methods of applying the hair strands, but the two popular ways are the 'individual strands' method and the 'wefts' method. Remember to ask yourself what type of your hair extensions you would like in the first place, there are many types, such as Asian hair, European hair, European Quality hair, wefts, and virgin hair.
The individual strands method consists of taking approximately 20-50 strands of hair extensions and attaching it to your hair. Hair extensions are attached just below the ears, the strands can be glued on to your scalp, the strands can be weaved in hair, or the strands can be compressed with hot metal rods. Other methods include the use of polymers and waxes and heat fusing the extensions.
Wefts are different from individual strands of hair, the hairs of a weft are attached at the top, leaving the bottom loose, it basically looks like a curtain of hair. How are they applied? Your actual hair and the weft are both sewn into tiny braid in the middle of your head, also known as a cornrow running horizontally at the back of your hair. The weft virtually seems invisible due to the hair that flows from the crown of your head. Depending on the style or how long your want your extensions to be, the sizes and number of wefts vary. For example, if you want thicker hair, 2-3 wefts are put in. If you want longer hair, usually 5-6 wefts are put in.
The most frequent question asked is how long do hair extensions last? Generally speaking, with proper treatment, hair extensions can last up to three months. From my past experience, hair extensions should not be kept in the hair for longer than three months because it can damage your natural hair. After three months, it is best to take the extensions out or if you like the look, get the whole process done again.
I highly recommend you get your hair extensions done by a professional hair stylist of an extensions artist. If you are hesitant whether they are professionals, ask for a portfolio of previous hair extensions they have performed in the past. Having hair extensions is an excellent way of having that look "celebrity" look many dream about and it gives you the freedom of having short and long hair!

Vitamins For Hair Loss - Hair Loss Due To Vitamin Deficiency
Zinc, iron, B vitamins, essential fatty acids, amino acids and other nutrients are responsible for hair growth. If these deficiencies occur ,for whatever reason, hair loss is likely. These deficiencies can result from many of the problems referred to in this article as well as poor diet.
However, there are other cases when hair loss can be a sign of a serious medical problem. This is known as temporary hair loss, because genes did not predetermine the loss of hair. One of the leading causes of temporary hair loss is vitamin deficiency. Hair follicles require certain vitamins to carry on their constant function of regeneration and growth. If follicles remain deprived of these vitamins they won't be able to carry out their normal functioning and may result in hair loss.
Most often due to poor dietary habits or disturbed metabolism folks happen to be deficient with these vitamins. So a change in dietary habits or food intake is necessary to ensure enough intake of necessary vitamins for hair in order to prevent hair loss.
Vital Vitamins To Prevent Hair Loss
There are many different vitamins that are extremely important to maintaining a healthy head of hair. Hair loss could be caused by a vitamin deficiency in any of these nutrients. All that is necessary to reverse the temporary hair loss is following a proper diet!
Vitamin A is a vitamin that promotes the healthy growth of both cells and tissue in various parts of the body, including the cells in the scalp and hair. A vitamin A deficiency could lead to hair loss and dandruff, especially if the deficiency occurs for an extended period of time. To get the vitamin A you need, make sure to consume lots of leafy vegetables, colorful fruits, liver, eggs, and fish oil.
Hair loss could be caused by a vitamin deficiency in one or more of three B vitamins. These three B vitamins (more specifically folic acid, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12) are important to the creation of red blood cells and hemoglobin. The hemoglobin carries oxygen to various body tissues, including the hair cells. A vitamin deficiency could cause hair loss due to the resulting reduced blood and oxygen supply to the hair. To get your B vitamins, eat plenty of chicken, fish, whole grains, beets, and orange juice.
A vitamin deficiency in biotin could cause hair loss. Though deficiency in biotin is rare, it has been observed in some cases. Biotin can be found in select foods, and it is also produced in the intestines by good bacteria. Most people who eat a healthy diet would never experience hair loss as a result of this vitamin deficiency. However, if this does occur, vitamin supplements can be taken.
What Else?
Other vitamins are important to the growth and maintenance of hair. These vitamins include zinc, iron, vitamin C, and copper. If you do not receive an adequate amount of these vitamins, make sure to look for food sources or begin taking supplements.
High doses of Vitamin A can also result in the temporary loss of hair.
Iron deficiency can be another cause of hair loss. Young women often have low iron due to the changes in their bodies and their menstrual cycle. Some people do not consume enough iron in their diets or have an inability to properly absorb iron. A doctor can test your blood for iron levels and can treat this by recommending iron pills as part of your vitamin and mineral regiment.
Insufficient protein in your diet may result in protein malnutrition that can affect hair loss. If you are on a diet that is low in protein this may be the culprit. Your body will take the protein from your hair, forcing your hair into the telogen or resting phase. Hair loss will then occur two or more months later. This is not permanent hair loss and can be reversed with a proper diet with healthy amounts of protein.
Biotin
For people who eat a healthy diet, biotin deficiency is rare. Besides getting biotin from select food sources, biotin is also manufactured in our intestines by gut bacteria. In rare instances though, biotin deficiency can cause hair loss. Both patients had severe loss of hair. These patients, due to their medical condition, did not manufacture biotin in their gut and consumed no biotin orally or parenterally. Daily supplementation of biotin resulted in the gradual regrowth of healthy hair.
If you are facing deficiency of these vitamins you should incorporate food items in your diet to ensure sufficient intake of these vitamins. It would lessen possibility of hair loss.

Hair Loss Consumer Information - Stop Hair Loss and Balding
Baldness involves the state of lacking hair where it often grows, especially on the head. The most common form of baldness is a progressive hair thinning condition called androgenic alopecia or 'male pattern baldness' that occurs in adult male humans and other species. More than half of men and women in the United States experience hair loss. About 30% of people have hair loss by age 30 years, and about 50% have hair loss by age 50 years. Hair loss is so common that most of the time it is considered a normal variation and not a disease
The official term for hair loss is Alopecia and it can mean either the total or partial loss of hair. If your are suffering from hair loss you need proper hair loss information before you can accurately start treating your hair loss. There are several considerations that hair loss information will give you which you should use to determine the severity of your hair loss and also help you to understand what treatment options are available to you.
What To Consider
When it comes to hair loss information there is a lot out there and first you need to determine what type of hair loss you have. Hair loss can develop gradually and it may also be patchy or it may occur all over the body. Every day nearly one hundred hair are shed from the healthy human head. An average human scalp will contain about a hundred thousand hairs. Hair will survive for about four and a half years while growing at about half an inch each month. Then in the fifth year the hair will fall out to be replaced by a new one within six months. The genetic form of hair loss results when the body fails to produce sufficient new hairs whilst being accompanied by excessive hair loss.
As people age they tend to lose the same amount of hair thickness and amount whether they are men or women. Men are more likely to have inherited pattern baldness then women. By the time they turn thirty about 25% of men will start to go bald and about two-thirds of men will be either completely bald or have balding patterns by the time they turn sixty. The typical pattern baldness will have a receding hairline along with thinning around the crown. If men do not have testosterone as a result of a genetic abnormality or castration then they will not develop pattern baldness since the pattern baldness needs testosterone.
Other Causes
Before assuming you have the common kinds of hair loss if is important to consider other causes of hair loss. While baldness is not typically a result of any single factor it can be related to aging, heredity and testosterone levels. Other possible causes of hair loss include hormonal changes, a serious illness, medications, excessive shampooing or blow-drying, emotional or physical stress, nervous habits, burn or parasites such as ringworm.
Main points
* Many causes of female hair loss are temporary - check your general health and be patient
* Take a look at your family for an idea of your risk of female pattern baldness
* Don't be taken in by claims for wonder products - there's no cure for female pattern hair loss
Chances are that the greatest challenge of losing your hair is coping with the change in your appearance. You may be frustrated or upset by other people's reactions or after trying various treatments with little success.

How To Treat Alopecia Hair Loss
Alopecia is the pathological loss of hair connected with hormonal disorders, physical or emotional overloads, hereditary predisposition, etc.
Causes of Alopecia Areata
There are several different hypotheses as to what causes alopecia areata. Genetic factors seem to play an important role since there is a higher frequency of a family history of alopecia areata in people who are affected. Alopecia areata appears to also have an autoimmune factor causing the patient to develop antibodies to different hair follicle structures.
Congenital alopecia, or hair loss, is relatively rare. It is characterized by full absence or drastic thinning of hair that can be combined with other disorders such as deterioration of nails, teeth, etc. Premature, or presenile, alopecia occurs most often among young and middle-aged men and develops gradually. In case with women it is generally limited to hair thinning. Hair loss begins in frontal and parietal areas. Then process grasps other sites of the scalp. The head-skin on the bald sites becomes thin, smooth and brilliant, and apertures of hair follicles are imperceptible.
Seborrheic alopecia, as the name prompts, develops on the background of seborrhea. It is marked with abnormal sebaceous excretions and thinning of hair on the whole surface of the scalp, its peeling, and increased greasiness of hair.
Cicatricial alopecia presupposes constant destruction of hair follicles and their replacement by connecting tissue. Cicatrices usually are not so visible as in case of healing wounds. They result in disappearance of apertures of hair follicles and the scalp becomes smooth and brilliant. The skin can remain soft and elastic though sometimes there may be callosities.
Areal alopecia, or alopecia areata, is characterized by loss of hair in one or several small sites on the scalp, underarms, on the pubis, beard, eyelashes or eyebrowes. Such hair loss areas have more often round outlines, they can increase and merge among themselves, forming larger sites. The skin in the new-forming centers is slightly hyperemic and edematic. Later on it becomes smooth and gets the color of ivory.
Disease can proceed on the background of eosinophilia, lymphocytosis, regional lymphadenitis, thinning of nails, accompanied by headaches. In some cases total loss of hair on the head, and also loss of eyelashes, eyebrowes, and lanugo (malignant, or universal alopecia) is marked. Hair can drop out during several years. Hair loss process can differ in intensity and duration. Sometimes children can have alopecia by way of small-focal "gleams" of hair or the coiled nimbus extending ribbonly from the nape to the auricles.
Most often therapy of premature alopecia consists in intensive bracing treatment. It can't result in restoration of all lost hair on the scalp, but it can reduce appreciablly the process of hair loss. Now techniques of operative treatment of hair loss, or alopecia, are developed. For example, hair transplantation in bald spots. This operation is carried out in specialized clinics and is rather expensive.
Do I need any tests?
Usually not. The diagnosis is usually based on the typical appearance of the bald patches. If there is doubt about the cause of the hair loss, sometimes some blood tests or a skin scrapping from a bald patch may be done to rule out other causes of baldness. A small skin biopsy (small sample) is sometimes taken to look at under the microscope.
Hair losing women with hyperandrogenism are usually treated to eliminate the causes of the latter. In case of increased sensitivity to androgenes (male hormones) the nonspecific therapy that reduces their production by ovaries or blocks their peripheral effects is carried out. With this purpose oral contraceptives and spironolactone are applied.
Treatment symptomatic alopecia should be directed on the basic disease. In case of favorable outcome hair are restored and regrown in due course.
Treatment of seborrheic alopecia should be preventive. In these purposes besides bracing therapies and correction of metabolic processes intensive topical treatment is used. Complex treatment can warn or suspend loss of hair. Such therapy is carried out by dermatologists and cosmeticians.
Minoxidil has been used to promote hair growth and has shown cosmetically acceptable results in 30% of cases. Minoxidil does not stop the disease process so stopping applications after hair has started to grow back may cause the hair to fall out again.
Another type of treatment is designed to produce a contact dermatitis, or irritation, at the site seemingly stimulating hair growth. The most common irritant used is called anthralin. Some studies suggest using minoxidil and anthralin in combination may be more effective.

Natural Hair Loss Remedies - Hair Loss Remedy
People have always been gullible where their hair is concerned. Queen Victoria drank silver birch wine made from sap because she believed it would cure her baldness. And despite icons such as David Beckham shaving off their locks, hair loss is refusing to become fashionable. Men, women, and even children may deal with thinning hair at some point in their lives. Some people are resigned to the progressive baldness, while others seek out measures to halt present hair loss and prevent future loss. There a few things that could cause this hair thinning.
The most important cause of hair loss is inadequate nutrition. Persons lacking in vitamin B6 lose their hair and those deficient in folic acid often become completely bald. But the hair grows normally after the liberal intake of these vitamins.
95% of all cases of balding in men are categorized as male pattern hair loss. Almost 50% of all men will experience male pattern hair loss by the time they turn 50. Male pattern hair loss begins with a receding hairline and/or slow balding at the crown. This hair loss will likely continue unless treated effectively. Luckily, Propecia has given millions of men new hope.
Every time you wash your hair, be sure to massage the scalp as well. Do not choose shampoos that are drying. Instead choose shampoos that are creamier and contain clarifying ingredients. Look for the words "scalp health" or something to that effect on your shampoo formula. This means it contains ingredients that are clarifying to the follicle area and won't leave debris or residue on the scalp.
Eat your meals on time. Also, B- capsules help in hair growth.
Hair loss can be prevented by eating herbs, green veggies and similar things that can boost the growth rate of hair and also ensure a good life for your hair.
Combat anemia which is a big cause of hair loss. Right intake of iron supplements can boost hair growth.
Aloe Vera is another traditional herb that has been used effectively in the prevention of hair loss. Native Americans, as well as people in the Caribbean and India have used Aloe Vera to maintain healthy hair and prevent hair loss. Combined with wheat germ oil and coconut milk, Aloe Vera can be made into a shampoo that cleanses and heals the scalp.
The juice of alfalfa, in combination with equal quantities of carot and lettuce juice, taken daily, also helps the growth of hair to a remarkable extent. The combination of these juices is rich in elements which are particularly useful for the growth of hair. While preparing alfalfa juice, the leaves of the plant may be used when they can be obtained fresh.
Exercise
Finally, although exercise does absolutely nothing directly to grow hair, most holistic practitioners recommend it. Exercising can improve blood flow, the delivery of oxygen to the cells of the body, and help the digestion of foods, all things that aid the health of hair follicles.

Alternative Hair Loss Treatment - Alternative Therapies for Hair Loss
Men can be very sensitive about baldness and therefore commonly seek an alternative hair loss treatment that works. Young men in particular, who experience substantial hair loss at an early age, fall prey to low self esteem or lack of confidence, even resulting in depression.
Treating hair loss has interested physicians and scientists through out history and many natural and pharmaceutical cures has been proposed. Recently, medical researches have finally proved the overall cause of hair loss. An androgenic hormone (named dihydrotestosterone or DHT) gradually increases in the receptors at hair follicles as men grow up and as a result, hair follicles shrink, hair becomes thinner, progressively falls and eventually no new healthy hair grows
Clearly then, balding is affecting men psychologically. They are more inclined to judge themselves in a negative way because they are losing their hair. There is also evidence to suggest that a small number of men who have an obsession about balding, could be masking some other, more serious psychological issues. It is also worth noting that some hair loss becomes more noticeable when there is a particularly large amount of stress in life. This would lead us then to say that the best drug free hair loss treatment would have to be controlling stress and working on self esteem.
It is inevitable that some people are going to lose their hair and there is nothing they can do about it, rather like worrying about whether the sun is going to come up each day. Instead, would it not be better to work at accepting the fact that this is an inevitable part of their life and remaining happy and confident in spite of it?
Finding The Right Herbal Hair Loss Treatment
The best way for you to find the right type of herbal hair loss treatment is to make a research on the topic. Find a good book about herbal medicine and treatment. You can find plenty of these types of books in the library so visit the library nearest you. If you do not have time to go to a physical library, you can do your research in one of those reputable online libraries. The good thing about using online libraries for your research is that you do not have to go out of the house just to get what you want. Furthermore, online libraries are open twenty fours a day seven days a week and are accessible wherever you might be.
Anyone considering beginning an intensive and extensive course of alternative treatment for hair loss should do some research. Inquire what the three main ingredients of the product are and consult with a medical professional as to whether those ingredients are known to make a big difference for individuals suffering from hair loss. Inquire about a free sample of the product. This will allow you to try it before you buy. If samples are not available this may tell you everything you need to know about the product; especially, that the company has little faith in their products. Additionally, this can tell something about the company. Check your available options before deciding which way you want to go.

Top Hair Loss Myth Explained
Everybody has an opinion on hair loss, and nearly everybody has heard of a supposed cure for hair loss. The unfortunate truth is that there are no miracle cures, and there is very little that you can do to avoid hair loss if you are a candidate for male (or female) pattern baldness. Here we aim to dispel some of the more widespread myths about hair loss - some serious, and some not so serious.
Male Pattern Baldness typically results in a receding hairline combined with hair loss on the crown of the head. Eventually the two gaps in the scalp will meet. As previously mentioned, there are factors which increase a man's chances of experiencing hair loss, but there are also a lot of myths on the subject of hair loss out there, and this article will focus on those.
Wearing a Hat
It is often said that wearing a hat increases the wearer's chances of Male Pattern Baldness. Men lose hair every day, without even noticing. This is due to the natural growth cycle of the hair, and they will ultimately be replaced by new hairs. If a man wears a hat for most of the day, any hair lost will gather in the hat, and this will probably be obvious to the wearer when he removes the hat. So, the man who wears a hat will perhaps notice natural hair loss more than the man who doesn't wear a hat. There is nothing to suggest that wearing a hat can cause hair loss, but the actual wearing of the hat will make the natural loss of hair more obvious that it otherwise would have been.
Blow Drying and Frequent Washing Causes Hair Loss
Unless they are done excessively, blow drying and washing your hair frequently will not cause hair loss. However, heat damaged hair is often brittle and prone to shedding. Too much heat can also permanently damage hair follicles, leading to hair loss. Similarly, physical damage to hair due to overaggressive shampooing or toweling can lead to a hair loss condition called traction alopecia.
Similarly, coloring hair, perming, and styling - when done properly - do not lead to hair loss.
Rubbing curry on the head will help
Afraid not, and you're likely to smell funny afterward.
Cutting the Hair
Another urban myth is that cutting the hair will make it grow back stronger and quicker. This is perhaps due to the fact that when cut, the hair feels thicker. There is no evidence to suggest that cutting the hair makes it grow back any differently. A person's hair will grow back at the same rate as before.
Brushing to Grow Hair?
The idea of brushing the hair 100 times a day to stimulate the scalp circulation is a fantasy. In fact, if you brush your hair too much, you may end up injuring and losing hair.
This myth stems from the thought that hair loss was due to poor circulation and that brushing or massaging would improve blood flow and nutrition to the follicles. The truth is, bald or not, there's no major difference in scalp circulation.
Standing on Your Head
One of the more bizarre rumours about hair loss is that if you stand on your head this will increase blood flow to the head. The theory is that the increased flow of blood to the head will stimulate hair growth. This is also nonsense...
Hair can turn gray or white over night.
What utter nonsense. This one was born in literature. What part of "fiction" did they not understand? Hair receives its color genetically and can only turn gray or white over very long periods of time. Actually the hair doesn't turn white in as much as the hair loses color, but not over night, or even a wild weekend.
You will be aware by now that there are a number of myths surrounding hair loss. In fact, hair loss is caused by a combination of age, genetics, and hormones. It is also thought that dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is also a contributor to Male Pattern Baldness, and there are a number of remedies available which combat the effects of DHT.

Hair Loss Treatment Provillus
Mostly, hair loss occurs in man but it can occur in woman as well. Losing hair in woman is a very difficult situation, since woman always want to look attractive and beautiful.
Hair loss is a problem, especially to woman. Woman who losses her hair can cause psychological problem. It can make her change her feelings about herself and with her partner as well.
If you are using a hair loss treatment which fails to differentiate this, it could be very ineffective and you will be lucky of you see any results. Best case scenario would be that you see no difference but in the worst case, you could end up losing even more hair.
Many females will experience hair loss with the changes of their hormones. With that in mind, women will use hair loss treatments which are designed to combat these causes. Men on the other hand may lose hair for an entirely different reason altogether so treatment for men should be different. Men usually lose their hair due to genetics.
This may mean that other male members of the family have or will suffer with hair loss. Usually, a hair loss product which stimulates the scalp allowing the re growth of hair is the one which should be look at in this case.
Men usually suffer from a condition called Male pattern Baldness. This usually occurs on top of the head.
Male Pattern Baldness is also known as Androgenic Alopecia and this condition can usually run through the family. This is the main factor when it comes to hair loss in men.
Men produce a hormone/testerone called DHT. It is the DHT which does damage by shrinking the hair follicles and thickening the scalp, which limits the blood flow to the area. The hair falls out because of this and does not grow back.
That is just a very basic explanation just so you can understand the importance of using a hair loss product designed to meet your needs. A male suffering from baldness would really need to find a product designed for men and men only.
How effective is Provillus
It's a matter of fact that the ingredients Saw Palmetto, Zinc, Vitamin B and others help to block DHT and provide your hair follicles with the nutrients they need. Provillus contains a high dosage of Saw Palmetto and other ingredients in a very favorable combination. And because Provillus is all natural ingredients (which is good for the whole body and not just the scalp), there are usually no horrible side effects as you can get with may of the prescription based hair loss treatments.
The type of ingredients you'll find in Provillus Hair Treatment is: Saw Palmetto (which is an approved ingredient by the FDA for use in hair loss treatments), vitamin B6 (which boosts red blood cells), Biotin (a vitamin that nourishes the hair and scalp), nettle root, zinc, pumpkin oil extract and magnesium.
How to use Provillus
Provillus pills are taken orally once a day.

Prevent Hair Loss - Hair Loss Solution
Loss of hair makes everyone anxious and no one wants to be bald. So everyone is always trying various methods to prevent hair loss. Here are a few solutions to hair loss problems. These tips will help in the regeneration of hair follicles but will not cure the underlying cause of hair loss. Since baldness is hereditary, many people think that there are no methods of hair loss prevention available for them. According to geneticists, a male whose maternal grandfather was bald will more than likely carry the gene for hair loss as well.
Causes of hair loss and their remedies
The causes of hair loss may be many. Very often some internal malady may be the root cause. This needs to be ascertained. Bringing into effect the proper preventive treatments can stop hair loss even before it begins by detecting the symptoms. Diseases like lupus or diabetes are a cause for hair loss. The hair loss serves as an early indication of the disease. The hair loss gets treated alongside the treatment of the disease. There are though a series of measure listed here that may seem obvious but if followed are easy steps that can naturally slow hair loss.
1. Don't' pull you hair
By pulling ones hair you are placing strain on the hair follicle and may cause permanent damage which results in that particular follicle not being able to grow hair again.
2. Be careful not to rub you scalp against a towel to dry it.
The same reason as for not pulling your hair rubbing your scalp can damage a hair follicle. If possible pat away excess moisture and then leave the hair to dry naturally.
3. Don't use wigs (unless advised to by a doctor)
The scalp needs to breathe for the hair follicles to work to their maximum effect. Using a wig suffocates the follicles and leads to damage which results in further thinning of the hair.
4. Use the correct shampoo according to your hair.
Follow the directions and use the right shampoo for your hair (i.e. for thin hair use a thin hair shampoo). Shampoos are formulated for a reason and giving your hair the most help possible is a good idea. Also never over wash your hair otherwise you deprive it of all its natural oils and it will lead to irreversible damage.
5. Don't use permanent or colorants.
Using any chemicals on the hair can lead to damage of the scalp and hair follicles and thus leading to these follicles no longer being able to support hair growth.
6. Always wash you hair thoroughly after using shampoo
Shampoo contains soap and chemicals and needs to be washed of thoroughly after use otherwise they will also ruin your scalp.
7. Diet
You should carefully watch your diet if you are concerned with hair loss. Eating unbalanced diets results in deficiencies and your hair won't get the nutrition that it needs. You should also carefully watch your intake of both vitamin A and E as excessive amounts of both these vitamins have been linked to hair loss.
Changes in the body's hormonal functions can also cause excessive hair loss. Some of the most drastic factors in hair loss are pregnancy or long-term emotional stress.
8. Don't led your head get sunburn (Be careful of exposure)
If you are going out in the sun be sure to use cream on your exposed scalp or use a hat so that you don't damage your scalp and follicles.
9. Prevent hair loss - Caring for Exteriors
The diet and exercise take care of the inside of your hair (which is more important); taking care of the look of your hair thnen becomes easy. Selection of the shampoo, conditioner, sprays, gels, colours, and oils should be very relevant to your hair type rather than your mind type.
Though a bit risky, if you think you have an excellent diet and exercise, then you can even try new products without hesitation.

Black Hair Care Tips, Style and FAQs
African-American/Black hair in general is more brittle, coarser, dryer and curlier (nappy) than those of non-African decent. Because of this hair care for a Caucasian would be different than for an African, who needs to be more careful when treating his/her hair because it is more delicate.
Another feature of black hair is that it is irregular in diameter. Neither the fiber diameter nor the cuticle diameter is the same all through its length. Because of this typical structure and coiling structure the hair has many fragile points. The outside of a tight curl puts stress on the outer hair fiber cortex and cuticle. At some points outside the curls, cuticle becomes very thin and flakes easily. These areas of stress in the hair fiber are prone to damage by chemicals. Even vigorous combing is enough to flake the cuticle and damage the hair.
Another undesirable feature of the black hair is its low moisture content. This character also makes the black hair more susceptible to weathering. Since the black hair is too curly in nature, it is difficult to comb. It is prone to hair breakage and hair shedding.
Because of these difficulties, black hair requires more care than any other type of hair. The following black hair care tips help in preventing some damage to which it is naturally susceptible.
Massage the scalp regularly to encourage oil production.
Always use a wide-toothed Afro comb. Combing helps spread the natural oil through the hair, making it look shinier and healthier.
Use intensive pre-shampoo treatments
Shampoo your black hair as often as you feel necessary but only lather once, using a small amount of shampoo. Rinse thoroughly.
Always towel-blow your hair and never rub it with towel.
Try a hot oil treatment once a month. It lubricates dry scalp and help in moisturizing black hair.
Choose non-greasy formulas for your hair gel so that they don't take away the healthy sheen.
If you want to braid your black hair, use a softening shampoo that maintains the right moisture balance. You can also try a natural oil based moisturizer.
While combing your hair, start from the tips and work towards the roots, it will be less damaging to the hair.
Have a regular trim to remove split ends as it prevents hair breakage.
Whether it's in cornrow, braids or bun, try not to repeat the same 'pull-back' hairstyle too often. The stress on the hair may cause it to weaken around the edges.
Try to avoid the use of heat treatments, chemical relaxers or hot hair drying of your hair.
Cotton pillow cases and sheets help in breakage, use a silk or satin scarf to wrap up your hair while sleeping.
Besides these natural hair care tips, there are certain black hair products that can be used for taking care of your hair. Black hair has its own specific characters and its unique problems. So special black hair growth products need to specially formulated for taking care of the more fragile black hair. The best black hair care or hair growth products are the ones that use the natural hair care products.
Can I remove a relaxer from my hair?
If you've read this far, you probably already realize the answer is "no". Permanents are called permanent for good reason. The bonds in the hair are destroyed when the hair is relaxed. The part of the hair that has been relaxed will never be "natural" again. The only way to get rid of relaxed hair is to cut it off or wait for it to break off. Waiting for the hair to break off is not a good transition option. But, some women choose it because they are uncomfortable giving up the length they've worked hard to get. There are ways to transition from relaxed hair to natural hair. But, the relaxed hair will never be natural again.
Stay away from Sodium Laurel Sulfate products: Always look for ammonium lureal based products - less irration to scalp due to a larger molecular structure, less penetration into pores. Shampoos are not made for conditioning or moisturizing, they are made for cleaning action. Always shampoo and rinse. Never leave shampoo on hair for very long.

Female Hair Loss and Pattern Baldness (Alopecia) in Women
Female hair loss occurs in more than one pattern. If you are a woman with loss of scalp hair, you should seek professional advice from a physician hair restoration specialist.
In most cases, female hair loss can be effectively treated. If you are a woman who has started to lose scalp hair, you are not alone if:
1. You are unpleasantly surprised by the hair loss
2. You don't understand why you are losing hair
Common or "hereditary" baldness in women, also called female pattern alopecia, is genetic and can come either the mother's or father's side of the family. Various forms of estrogen can "oppose" androgens and thereby reduce their availability to the cell, by blocking androgen receptors. A woman who notices the beginning of hair loss may not be sure if the loss is going to be temporary or permanent - for example, if there has been a recent event such as pregnancy or illness that may be associated with temporary hair thinning.
In women more often than in men, hair loss may be due to conditions other than androgenetic alopecia. Because beautiful hair is a sign of youthfulness and longevity, hair loss can leave you feeling confused, helpless, frustrated and angry. Many women do not realize that hair loss can occur after pregnancy or following discontinuation of birth control pills. It may also follow any sudden physical or psychological stress to the body. Alopecia means baldness, but just as in men, it does not have to be complete hair loss. This is seen as hair thinning predominantly over the top and front of the head. Treatment of this type of hair loss includes immunomodulating therapies such as glucocorticoids, topical immunotherapy, or anthralin, or biologic-responce modifiers such as Minoxidil. The choice of treatment depends on the patient's age, as well as the extent of hair loss.
Causes of Female hair loss:
The most common causes of hair loss in women are not related to inherited genes, but to temporary metabolic problems associated with pregnancy, unusual stress, chemotherapy, crash diets/anorexia, thyroid hormone deficiency, major surgery, severe infection or high fever. Certain drugs can also take their toll on once lush and healthy tresses.
Symptoms of Female hair loss:
The main symptoms are:
1. Thinning of hair over the entire head.
2. Mild to moderate hair loss at the crown or hairline.
Diagnosis of Hair Loss in Women
A doctor can diagnose your hair loss on the basis of (for example) medical history. Other facts on which a diagnosis can be based are:
Regularly checking the pattern of your hair.
Treatment of Female hair loss:
Treatment options for women are more limited than those available to men. A consultation with a skilled specialist to discuss your options is advised. The popular topical treatment Rogaine for women (minoxidil) can be used by women. And many women do hair restoration surgery to restore their hair. Hormone replacement pills, such as Prempro, plus Aldactone are better after menopause. Experienced hair transplant surgeons can often achieve excellent results in women with the new follicular unit and minigraft techniques. If treatment fails, or is not desired professional counseling might be of help. Perms, dyes and other cosmetic options can be used to give a fuller appearance to hair.

Stress and Hair loss: Are They Related
If your hair is thinning or falling out, you are probably anxious to find out why. Is hair loss due to stress, heredity, or some other factor? The answer is "yes" to all three.
Male and female-pattern baldness are normally inherited conditions. These tend to cause hair loss in men on the top of the head. The sides and back of the hair may remain in many cases. In women, female-pattern baldness tends to occur on the top of the head, with gradual thinning of the hair.
Numerous treatments may help slow hair loss in these conditions, or some turn to hair transplantation. Many simply accept the hair loss, which especially in men is quite common. In women, such hair loss is less socially acceptable. Women may turn to use of minoxidil or to hair transplantation to replace thinning hair.
That brings us to the imminent question, whether or not stress can cause hair loss? You see, stress is so often referred to as the major cause of baldness, that many people believe this to be accurate. The fact is that stress is a cause of baldness, so you can blame your job or your sporting team if it makes you feel better, but it is not the major cause. Although stress is a cause of baldness, it is seen only as a contributing factor, because there is one cause that affects most hair loss sufferers.
Baldness can be caused by many factors, with more than 50% of males enduring some form of balding or thinning by middle age. Women also suffer from hair loss, and around 35-40% of women will suffer some type of balding or thinning by age 60. The most common cause of hair loss is Pattern Baldness. Pattern baldness alone affects more than 40% of the male population. Pattern balding is easy to explain - it is a genetic disposition - it develops naturally.
Noticing The Stress Related Hair Loss Connection
Hair loss due to stress can occur as late as three months after you have suffered a particular stressful period therefore it may not be easy to connect the stress and hair loss occurrence but you may want to ensure when you go through a stressful period that you provide the same and sometimes extra care to your hair in order to maintain your locks.
If you are experiencing hair loss all of a sudden think back and consider what you have encountered that may have affected you enough to change your lifestyle and/or eating habits that may in turn have affected your hair.
The way men and women experience Pattern Baldness is very different. Men tend to endure thinning hair in certain sections or patches of the scalp and that's why many instances in men result in the 'monk' effect, i.e. balding on top, with hair still growing at the sides and back. Women tend to lose hair equally across the scalp, so instead of having a visibly bald patch, a woman can actually lose more hair than a man, but still appear to have a full head of hair.
Pattern Baldness is by far the most likely cause f hair loss, but there are a number of other known causes. The other causes of balding are credited for such small percentages of occurrences, and in many cases are the easiest to prevent, detect or even reverse. Other known causes of balding are hormonal imbalances (especially in women) illnesses, lousy diet, inferior hygiene, drug abuse and last but not least, stress. Again, stress is an indisputable known cause of balding. Not a major cause, but it ranks in the top few causes.
Stress related baldness has a scientific name - Telogen Effluvium. This type of baldness can also be caused by experiences such as trauma, childbirth, puberty, major surgery and even severe chronic illness. Telogen Effluvium is characterized by abrupt hair loss caused by an interruption in the normal hair growth cycle. Stress and trauma cause large numbers of hair follicles to concurrently enter a stage of rest. After some time, the hair follicles will enter a stage of growth, and the old hair will be ejected out of the follicle by a new hair that is formed beneath it. The result is a period of hair shedding, and is usually self correcting, but if the stress is ongoing, then this type of hair loss can become chronic and eventually lead to more prevalent balding.
Other Hair Loss Factors:
There are other factors that can also cause hair loss, including but not limited to:
* Illness
* Hormonal changes
* Pregnancy, childbirth, and birth control pill usage
* Nervous habits
* Chemotherapy
If your hair is thinning, or you're experiencing baldness and it seems abnormal (i.e. if you're in your teens or 20s, if it's an odd pattern, etc.) it's a good idea to see your doctor to determine the cause.
