Avoiding Hair Loss

One of the major worries for people over the ages has been the loss of hair as hair is closely associated with the beauty of an individual. People resort to all kinds of things to hide their not so glamorous scalp including buying wigs and exotic potions! In order to solve this problem effectively we first need to know about what exactly causes hair loss and then move on to find remedies to prevent it. Studies have shown that the most common reasons for hair loss of men come from hormone related or from genetic factors.

The major culprit for hair loss in men seems to be the hormone called DHT (dihydrotestostrone). As the level of this hormone increases in the body, the hair loss pattern also catapults high up resulting in the thinning of hair leading to eventual permanent damage of the hair follicles. This develops the dreaded syndrome of balding and robs an otherwise positive man of his confidence. In women too, this testosterone derivate hormone DHT plays havoc and leads to hair loss even though the results might not be as extreme as the ones seen in men. In the case of women, two more factors accentuate hair loss. The first one is triggered off by a traumatic situation in her life, disturbing the normal hair growth pattern and is called Telogen Effluvium. There is a general thinning of hair in this case. Another major condition which seems to be promoting hair loss in women is Alopecia Areata. In this rare condition, there is loss of hair in patches not only from the scalp but also from various other body parts. Thankfully, there is a wide variety of hair loss remedies available to prevent hair loss.

One of the oldest remedies for hair loss is massaging of the scalp. It has been tried, tested and proved to stimulate hair follicles when done for a few minutes on a regular basis. Oiling the scalp is not such a bad idea either! Coconut, olive and jojoba oils have been found to have hair nourishing and growth promoting properties. Also, keeping the head cool and periodic washing with cold or lukewarm water is recommended. The significance of good nutrition can never be overlooked as the quality of hair depends heavily on our diet. The presence of a balanced diet with ample amount of minerals, fats and proteins is the key to lustrous and glamorous hair. Raw Palmetto extract also helps to avoid the problem of hair loss by lowering the DHT levels in the body and prevents hair loss.

Another potion that has proved to be beneficial to hair is Aloe Vera extract. It reduces the pH level and preserves our hair. It is recommended to apply Aloe Vera on the scalp regularly to gain the desired effect. One of the latest remedies found is Polysorbate-80 it also believed to decrease the level of DHT preventing hair loss. As you can see, it is important to keep the body clean from inside as well as outside in order to prevent hair loss. To maintain splendid hair, regular detoxification activities should be carried out. All activities and exercises also help to maintain hair in good condition as they improve the distribution of oxygen in the body and blood circulation. And remember that it is much easier to maintain your hair in good condition rather than restoring it after being lost.
